Ramakrishnan, Resul, Rahman get padma awards
New Delhi: Nobel Laureate Dr Venkatraman Ramakrishnan and veteran theatre artist Zohra Segal have been selected for the Padma Vibhushan awards, while Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, music directors A R Rahman and Ilaiyaraaja and danseuse Mallika Sarabhai have been chosen for the Padma Bhushan awards.
The awards were announced on Monday.
Oscar winning Sound Recordist Resul Pokutty, Beijing Olympics medallist Vijender Singh, actor Saif Ali Khan, heart specialist K K Agarwal, cricketer Virendra Sehwag, ace tennis player Saina Nehwal, K Raghavan, P Pushpangdhan, Ravi, Dr Philip Augustine, Ravi Pillai, Kurien John, Saina Nehwal, Narain Karthikeyan and actress Rekha are among those chosen for the Padma Shri award.
Capt Krishnan Nair, E T Narayanan Mooz, Dr P K Warrier, Kuzhoor Narayanan Marar were also conferred Padma Bhushan awards.
Six persons were awarded Pathmavibhushan. Forty three got Pathmabhushan and 81 got Pathmasree awards.
