Disputed land given by Madras govt: Shreyams

Kochi: Janata Dal (S) MLA MV Sreyams Kumar claimed on Monday the 14.44 acres of land in Krishnagiri in Wayanad district, which was disputed, was gifted to his grand father by the Madras government in 1943.

In his affidavit produced before Kerala High Court, he said the 14.44 acres of land in the name of his family for generations was under his possession and a total 64.09 acres of land was now in his name.

He had challenged the Wayanad Collector’s decision who had supervised the eviction operation, and had erected a board on the land stating that the disputed land was government property meant for assignment to landless tribal people.

The Court had directed Sreyams Kumar to file an affidavit indicating the total extent of land possessed by him.
