Palakkad first fully electrified district
Palakkad: Palakkad district has become the first fully electrified district in the country.
Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde made this declaration at a function here on Tuesday.
After the declaration, he said all the villages in the country would be electrified by 2012.
Shinde also noted the country would become self sufficient in electricity production and electric equipment within two years. On transmission loss, he said there would be no such loss in the country after 2020. The national percentage of transmission loss stood at 37 per cent, he added.
An amount of Rs.520 crore has been spent for power infrastructure development in 11 assembly constituencies in Palakkad.
