Kerala appoints pay revision commission

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Wednesday decided to appoint a commission to study the pay revision of government employees and teachers.

Briefing newsmen after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said ``the cabinet has decided to appoint a commission headed by Justice Rajendra Babu. The commission will include Dr Mohanan Pillai of CDS and advocate P Venugopalan Nair as members.``

The commission, which has tenure of six months, will look into promotion and other benefits, he said.

The government has also decided to give a compensation of Rs five lakh to the family of lyricist Girish Puthencherry, who died recently.
