Pak cricket captain steps down

Karachi: Pakistan captain Younus Khan Tuesday resigned as captain in protest against match-fixing allegations made against the team by a senior member of parliament.

He submitted his resignation to the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ejaz Butt during a hearing of the National Assembly standing committee on sports.

The hearing was called to discuss the performance of the team in the Champions Trophy.

National Assembly committee Chairman Jamshed Dasti had said that he had evidence Pakistan deliberately under-performed against Australia and New Zealand in the tournament.
