Kerala gets Rs 110 for National games
New Delhi: The Union Sports Ministry on Tuesday approved a grant of Rs 110 crore to the Kerala Government for the conduct of 35th National Games, which are scheduled to be held in May 2010.
The grant would be utilised towards up-gradation of existing sports infrastructure, procurement of sports equipment, laying and development of playing surfaces and conduct of National Games.
Kerala had submitted a proposal of Rs 220 crore for the conduct of the games. A Central team had visited Kerala in May to evaluate the proposal for conduct of 35th National Games. The Central Team recommended that the Planning Commission may consider Additional Central Allocation (ACA) of Rs 110 crore (50 per cent of the total cost) to Kerala for hosting 35th National Games.
