Ethiopian Airliner with 90 people crashes
BEIRUT: An Ethiopian Airlines plane with about 90 passengers on board crashed into the Mediterranean Sea shortly after taking off from Beirut international airport in the early hours of Monday.
The plane, a Boeing 737, disappeared off the radar some five minutes after takeoff.
Reports said about 50 passengers were Lebanese nationals and others were Ethiopians. It is said that there were seven crew members.
Lebanese transport minister was reported to have said that the crash site had been identified three-and-a-half km west of the of Na'ameh village.
Search and rescue operations were under way and further details were awaited.
